Machinery and electrical systems must be designed and maintained to provide for safe operation of the towing vessel and safety of persons onboard under normal and emergency conditions. Vessel’s master reported loss of throttle controls due to two inches burst air compressor piping system. Repair damaged piping and prove proper operation of throttle controls to the attending Coast Guard marine inspector.

Vessel has a fracture in the stern void below the waterline. Make permanent repairs to the satisfaction of attending Coast Guard marine inspector. If the company chooses to use their Third Party Organization (TPO) to oversee repairs, a report from the TPO accepting repairs will suffice to clear this deficiency.
