Propulsion machinery, including main engines, reduction gears, shafting, bearings, and electrical equipment and systems, must: (1) Be maintained to ensure proper operation; (2) Be suitable for route and service; and (3) Have suitable propulsion controls to provide the operator full control at each operating station. Vsl suffered a stbd engine fire at the clutch. Conduct repairs and test of affected machinery and to the satisfaction of the TPO. Provide TPO report to the Marine Inspector stating the cause, repairs completed, and satisfactory test completed of the affected machinery. 46CFR143.205(c)(1)(2)(3)

Pipings and tanks exposed to the outside of the hull must be made of metal and maintained in a leak free condition. Vessel is suspected to be leaking fuel out of port fuel tank. Make permanent repairs to vessel to ensure it is in a leak free condition as designed to the satisfaction of the USCG or TPO (ABS). In accordance with CVC Policy Letter 17-10, the above deficiencies may be cleared by the operating company's TPO. TPO must submit a report to the cognizant OCMI within 72 hours of clearing the deficiencies.
