Vessel lost its port MDE while in operation. According to report, a rod from the MDE flew out of engine without causing any additional damage to the space or equipment nearby.

Resolution: Vessel replaced port MDE with new Caterpillar 3406 diesel engine. ABS (TPO) conducted survey and satisfactory power trials.

Received report of a loss of propulsion on the starboard engine due to a fouled propeller in the vicinity of LMR MM49. Machinery and electrical systems must be designed and maintained to provide for safe operations of the towing vessel and safety of person on board under normal and emergency conditions. While vessel was conducting operations, crew reported a loss of power and subsequent burning smell from the port generator. Crew reported the port generator was immediately secured. Vessel is restricted prior to movement pending satisfactory repairs and CG attendance. Vessel is only authorized to transit to Premier Marine in Tiger Pass to conduct repairs. Provide technician report attesting to cause of causality, repairs conducted, and satisfactory operational test.
Action required: 60 - Rectify deficiencies prior to movement

Resolution: Vessel replaced generator with new one. They used the same make and model and submitted a tech report stating satisfactory operational test of the new generator. Cleared 835
