Resolution: They had a tech come on board and fix the leak.
The crew of each towing vessel must demonstrate the ability to operate the primary and auxiliary machinery & electrical systems for which they are responsible, and to do so under normal & emergency conditions. This includes, but is not limited to, responses to alarms & restoration of propulsion & steering in the event of failure. Vessel sustained a loss of steering while pushing two red flag barges at mile marker 176.3 on the ICW. Vessel is prohibited from any pushing/towing operations until steering system is deemed satisfactory. Third Party Organization (TPO) ABS is authorized to clear this CG 835V on behalf of the Cognizant OCMI. 46 CFR 143.205(b)
