A remote fuel shutoff valve must be fitted on any fuel line that supplies fuel directly to a propulsion engine or generator prime mover and must be installed in the fuel piping directly outside of the fuel oil supply tank. The vessels remote fuel shutoffs were not located directly outside of the fuel oil supply rendering the shutoff's useless.

During the course of the inspection it was noted there were multiple instances of questionable watertight integrity to include the port side shell in the engine room, the starboard side sideshell in the engine and a watertight bulkhead penetration in engine room aft above watertight door. A review shall be submitted to the OCMI in accordance with 46 CFR 144.330.
