Machinery systems must be designed and maintained to provide for safe operation of the towing vessel and safety of persons onboard under normal and emergency conditions. It was reported that coolant from the expansion tank dripped onto the turbo of the port engine causing smoke. Low coolant alarm sounded on the bridge and Master shut the engine down. Prove proper operation of machinery prior to resuming service.
