It was reported that stbd generator has a cracked head. Vessel is allowed to temporarily install a backup portable generator with TPO approval. Vessel is also allowed a one time transit to JMI Wickliffe via Cairo to complete permanent repairs.Prove proper operation prior to resuming service. ***In lieu of Coast Guard attendance, the Third Party Organization, TVIB, may accept/approve the repairs and provide a report to the Coast Guard inspector listed below***

Installed electrical power source(s) must be capable of carrying the electrical load of the of the towing vessel under normal operating conditions. The port engine started sparking and subsequently shut down. In addition, the starboard generator failed to start.

Machinery and electrical systems must be designed and maintained to provide for safe operation of the towing vessel and safety of persons onboard under normal and emergency conditions. Vessel suffered casualty to both ship service generators and lost electrical power to entire vessel. Make repairs to the satisfaction of vessel's Third Party Organization, Towing Vessel Inspection Bureau (TVIB).
