MISS FLORENCE

A towing vessel must be maintained and operated so the watertight integrity and stability of the vessel are not compromised. Crew aboard the vessel discovered 1.0-1.5 feet of water in the engine room bilges during an hourly round at 2200 on 11JUL2020. A hole (approximately dime size in diameter) was discovered in the hull below the MSD Tank. The hole was temporarily plugged with wedges and a water resistant epoxy. ABS, the TPO, was notified of the temporary repair and approved it. The owner/operator shall submit a transit plan to be approved by the cognizant [name withheld] approved, the vessel will be authorized to transit from Gates Repair Yard in Bolivar to San Jac Shipyard in Houston to effect permanent repairs to the effected area of the hull below the MSD Tank. A permanent repair plan proposal shall be drafted IAW recognized repair standards and approved by the TPO. US Coast Guard Marine Inspector will approve the repair plan/repairs based on objective evidence submitted by the TPO. The US Coast Guard may attend the vessel prior to effecting permanent repairs.
