An existing vessel may be deemed by the OCMI to be in compliance with this subpart provided that: (b) The vessel has been both in satisfactory service insofar as structural adequacy is concerned and does not cause the structure of the vessel to be questioned by the OCMI.
The bow of the vessel was impacted by a barge requiring approximately two 4' by 2' sections of hull plating and deck platting to be cropped and renewed. The chord supporting the hull in the forward hold was crushed beyond 25% and a section of it was corroded through. Replace the damage steel plate and chord supporting the bow hull plating to the satisfaction of the OCMI.
