Whenever damage or deterioration to hull plating or structural members that may affect the seaworthiness of a vessel is discovered or suspected, the cognizant OCMI may conduct an internal structural examination in any affected space, including fuel tanks, and may require the vessel to be drydocked or taken out of service to assess the extent of the damage, and to effect permanent repairs. Attending MI found that the welds on bulkhead stiffeners on transom in lazarette did not have adequate tie in/penetration where previous repair occurred aft of the wet exhaust piping. Permanent repairs to be complete at the credit drydock in 2026.

Pitting found in lazarette hull plating starboard side in way of rudder post and forward corner at the bulkhead. 04 pits to be repaired by clad welding; 02 pits in Bay #4 and 02 pits near rudder post not protected by external doubler. All other pits greater than 0.16" deep to be cleaned to good metal and filled with a suitable marine epoxy for corrosion resistance. Both areas are to be cropped and renewed prior to credit drydock in 2026. Until renewed, high water alarm in lazarette shall be tested and logged daily.

Small hole developed in way of the STBD quarter at the transom, approximately 4' above the waterline. Operator is permitted to install a temporary patch to continue operations until permanent repairs are completed as part of the next credit hull inspection. Vessel is to operate on a Lakes Bays and Sounds route only during this period, the Limited Coastwise route is deactivated until permanent repairs are complete.
